More trees for Roundhill?

We have been contacted by Bath and North East Somerset Council, who own the land, about the opportunity to plant a small copse of trees on the Roundhill field (not on the hill itself).  The trees are available through a grant from the Woodland Trust to a local group, More Trees for BANES.

The trees and shrubs on offer are a mix of native species - hazel, blackthorn, crab apple, elder and dog rose - with an emphasis on fruiting varieties that attract wildlife.

We need to act fast to take advantage of this opportunity. We're really keen to hear any opinions of local residents on this matter, so why not add a comment or let us know your views via the Contact Us page.

Trees for Roundhill

I think trees would be beneficial to The Roundhill. Not on the mound itself, as to be honest they would struggle with the wind. A small copse would be great for the area.

Trees and pictures...

Paul - thanks for the update. A selection of these photos are also available in our Gallery section, here.

Thanks Emma! Assuming it all goes ahead, it looks like we may have a planting event towards the end of November. Hope to see you there!

Roundhill pictures

Several years ago a professional photographer took a series of great pictures of the Roundhill. These have been on display at Trimbridge House and have been brought back for display at the Roundhill on occaissions since.
The Council has now vacated Trimbridge House and the people working there have moved to offices in Lewis House opposite the Manvers Street car park.
I am pleased to report that, after discussion with the senior management there, several of these photos will be put up on display around Lewis House.

Sounds marvellous, glad the council take an interest.
